0.5 Days Left!

Wow. Today flew by!
(I should never have counted it as a full day.)

This morning the kids and I went to the park...after I cleaned the house...just in case there were to be a showing while we were gone. We stayed at the park for an hour and a half...much longer than normal.

But, it was lunch time, so we came home.

When we got here, I checked the answering machine and low and behold, there was a showing in a half hour!

So, I got the kids and myself a very quick lunch and we headed out to the farm to check out the furniture in the barn.

Well, I must have been having a blonde-moment kind of day, because we got all the way to the opposite edge of town before I realized we had to get gas and I didn't have my purse with me. Oye. I hate wasting time...believe it or not! So, we turned around, came home, stopped for gas and started (again) for the farm.

At this point, we were running about an hour later than I had planned (or wanted).

In any case, we made it to the farm, I picked out a few pieces that would be perfect for the new house (after a good cleaning and possibly some sanding), the kids played on nearly all the trucks and various utility vehicles in the shed, saw Uncle Josh, played with the dog and then it was time to visit Great Grandma Lloyd!

We left the farm about 15 minutes late, but we made it to Great Grandma's without too terrible a delay.

I don't think we were there even 10 minutes before we were enjoying a yummy ice cream cake! (Breck refused to eat his piece...crazy kid...and instead opted for all the chocolate in Great Grandma's candy dish.) Then a few minutes before I had planned to pack up the kids to head home, Grandma Lloyd (Seth's mom, just so there's no confusion!) showed up!

She had a present in hand for Great Grandma...because it is her birthday today!!!
I had no idea. And feel bad for that! But I suppose it was good timing for us to visit!

We stayed a bit longer so we could visit with Grandma, too!

Then around 5pm, we headed home.

Now we just have to get through tomorrow and then around noon on Wednesday, we'll pack up and leave for KC - we close on the house at 3pm!!!

(Oooo, it's like Christmas!)

Our Night (8/6/09)

As you know, we had to vacate the house from 4-6pm this evening, so people could see the house.

We got all our errands run except for the bank, so we'll do that tomorrow...and pick up boxes.

Our first stop was Walgreens for a quick "deals" run.
(I'll have a post about all that tomorrow when Seth gets back with the camera, because it's just not near as fun without pics!)
And I was able to snag some boxes! So starting early tomorrow morning, I'll be packing up what I can!

Then we were on to McDonald's for a very early dinner (4:30pm).
I had a coupon for a free drink and fries wyb their new angus burger (which is $4 and mamothly huge and pretty yummy!), so I got that and the kids got a happy meal to split. The gal working the register was a sweety and let me pic which toy Breck got (he was already off playing with the lego table) plus she gave Rowan a toy, even though we only bought the one meal. :)
(I hope she has an extra nice weekend for that!)

Then it was on to Dillons.
(sigh)
Breck had been good up until this point.
He bit Rowan on her cheek, then crawled out of the car cart and proceeded to run around the store like a wild child.
(I have to admit, it was very tempting to find a pricing machine thingy, mark him on clearance and stick him on a shelf in the baby aisle.)
It was embarassing!

After that, it was time to come home and unpack the car. Guess who fell asleep on the way home? Yep - Wild Thing.
So, Rowan and I unloaded the car and put things away that needed it, then we raced off to my MNI (mom's night in).
It was nice. We ate smores. There were only three of us from my mom's group, which was disappointing, but a lot of girls are out of town right now...maybe I'll catch them Monday at playgroup?

We left at 9pm and much to my dimay, neither kid was asleep by the time we got home. I put Rowan down almost immediately and she went to sleep pretty quickly. Breck on the other hand, wanted this and that and the other...finally I put my foot down and got him to bed.

I can hardly wait until the morning, so I can pack!
(is that normal?!)

Have a great night all! Sleep tight!

Oh, What a Morning!

Yesterday evening, I managed to pull out the cucumbers and some more weeds. And while doing so, I noticed there are strawberries on my plants!!! I bought them 3 years ago - the first year, I was a good and patient strawberry grower and did not touch them. The second year, they only produced in June, so I thought maybe I ordered the wrong kind (not the ever-bearing variety or was sent the wrong kind...oh well, I thought.) But this year, they are putting out another crop! It doesn't look like it'll be a very big one, but some is better than none! I already picked three! :)

I also got our refrigerator cleaned. We barely have any food in there and that is a "good thing"! I'm trying to clean our things/appliances so they're all nice and clean and ready for us when we get to the new house!
(oh, I can hardly wait!!!)

~~~
This morning started out normal...
and then the kids went into terror mode.
Breck bit Rowan...again.
They fought constantly until it was her nap time at 10am.
When she woke up, they teamed together and dumped all their snacks from the snack cupboard on the floor...and proceeded to crush them. (oatmeal, goldfish pretzels, and quaker quakes)
Then they moved to Breck's room and crammed all his little Happy Meal beanie baby toys into the ball popper. A pair of pliers and a bendy lighter later, all's well!
Rowan typed some magic keys on the computer and it would only type out words backwards! (or sdrawckab, as it would have looked!) I'm still scratching my head over that! (a quick shut down fixed that problem, thank goodness!)
I did manage to get Breck's comforter and pillow case washed (he doesn't even sleep in his sheets, so I didn't bother with those!), got some dishes done, cleaned a little (but you can't tell), and planned out our trip to Walgreens and Dillons for some great deals/freebies! (I'd forgotten just how long that can take with monsters running about!)
We have back to back showings this evening: one from 4-5pm and one from 5:30-6pm. So, we'll be running all our errands then. And boy do we have a lot! (Walgreens, Dillons, the bank, Target and the park.) Plus, we'll be eating out...maybe Wendy's...I have a coupon.
Tonight, we're headed to Ft. Riley for a Mom's Night In (where children are permitted). It's my last one and am very grateful it was changed from a Mom's Night Out (as it normally is) where children are not allowed, since I have the kids. (and don't want to bother G&G Lloyd again, since they've taken them a lot lately!)
Clock's a Tickin'!
Only 7 more days until we take possession of our new house!
(10 days until we actually move all our stuff in)
Today has been pretty productive.
This morning I woke up before both kids, so I went out to the garden and pulled some weeds. (which was very much needed! Planting a garden, knowing we'd be moving, was about the worst idea we've had. I have enough on my plate without worrying about a garden, nevermind that I won't even be able to preserve any of the veggies. And since I never seem to get to the cucumbers soon enough, they are always too big and overgrown and have a yucky bitter taste. Therefore, I have decided to remove the cucumbers.)
Right around 10am, the realty group we're using came for a walk through - the entire office came. Thankfully, they didn't stay long...although their cologne/perfume did. (lol)
And the showing that was scheduled for this afternoon was moved to tomorrow evening.
Also, I did some packing...as much as could be done with 4-5 boxes. Somebody (lets call him "Seth") told me I should have everything packed by now, seeing as it is only 9 days until we pack the moving truck! (Easy to say when you're not the one living in an empty house with two little kids! ;) )
And since we'll definitely need more boxes, I called my favorite store in Manhattan and talked to the manager that Seth happens to know - and he was sweet enough to save boxes for us tomorrow!
(hello, Bridgette, if you're reading - your husband rocks!)
For this evening, I think we'll take it easy...plenty to do in the next several days!
Hope y'all are having as productive a day as I!
Our Day - Monday, June 29th, 2009
Today is Seth's 32nd b-day!!!
Today started with a call to Daddy to wish him happy birthday!
Then Breck helped himself to the cookie dough in the fridge (after all, it was Daddy's birthday!) and was in the sharing mood, because he gave it to Rowan who got it all over herself and the carpet!
then we made some carrot cake! I figure it has raisins and carrots in it, so it's sorta healthy!
...and even more importantly, it's another food that Breck will eat!
after steam cleaning the carpet and getting ready, we headed to the park for some mommy gets to talk to her friends playgroup time!
We stayed for about an hour before it started getting pretty warm.
Came home, Rowan took a nap, we ate lunch and Breck played some games on the computer.
Somehow this afternoon flew by, but I couldn't tell you what we did!
This evening we played outside for a while since it was pretty nice and finally not humid!
Rowan found my flip flops to be the most interesting outside toy!
the kids finally fell asleep and I got some posts written and searched for houses.
(that's a whole other post that'll be coming soon!)
Our Day - Thursday, June 25th, 2009
This morning started out great!
Breck helped take out the trash
the kids hunted down a bug and exterminated it (with RoRo's shoe!)
Breck took some time to read the phone book
and the the day went south when Breck also took some time to scatter and crush tortilla chips all over the floor!
but after serving his time, he was allowed to play some games
We went outside for about 20 minutes and then I couldn't take the heat anymore, so we headed inside.
(you know it's hot when you're sweating within 30 seconds of stepping outside!)
Tonight was pretty boring. Nothin' to report.
and Seth comes home tomorrow!
Hopefully he'll get all his work done and be able to get home a little early!
Our Day - June 24th, 2009
This morning the kids had a picnic breakfast!
then had a quick crawling race.
We got around and headed to Walmart to get a few things I forgot yesterday and to get my oil changed.
Notice anything different?!
(I'll give you a hint: it's the little clipie!)
We got Rowan her first set of hair accessories today!
Once Rowan was napping, Breck and I went outside for a very short while, since it was ridiculously hot!
he rode around with his sun protection
and found the perfect umbrella holder!
Rowan woke up and things were typical.
Breck practiced his entertaining and Rowan seemed pretty entertained!
Here's something RoRo's been doing since she got her teeth:
when Rowan went down for her second nap, Breck and I made chocolate chip cookies!
and we had some rain this evening:
which was great for getting a few neat 365 shots! And it was a perfect time to test out the Spongebob umbrella!
we even saw a rainbow!
Our Day - June 23rd, 2009
This morning we went to Walmart to get a few things. But I forgot my list and coupons, so we got other things instead. For instance, Breck got a package of hot wheels and Rowan got a baby doll using their b-day gift cards from the neighbors.
notice Rowan zooming a car past the doll
and Breck snuggling the doll instead of playing with his cars
We got 5 lbs of bananas for about $2.00 and rented Kung Fu Panda from Redbox using a free movie code. (the code is " breakroom " in case you're wondering.) Otherwise, the rest of the day was pretty normal (except for the buying a house part).
Breck keeps spitting milk on/at things and people (ie: Rowan), so he is banned from taking his milk away from the dining table or kitchen.
And I found a few more marks on the walls - this time in pen, which mostly came out with hairspray.
I'm hoping I'll be back in documentary mode for tomorrow, but we'll see how it goes.
Our Day - June 22nd, 2009
This morning we got up and were overall pretty lazy...still in pjs at 10:30am! Not much worth mentioning until Seth called at 2:30pm to tell me that someone wanted to see the house at 5:30pm!!!
And it was a MESS! I spent the next 3 hours cleaning furiously! I broke a sweat inside with ac on! Finally I was done, got the kids loaded into the car (Rowan got to ride in her big girl car seat for the first time!) and we headed to McDonald's for dinner since we needed to be gone for an hour and the kids were really pretty well behaved while I cleaned.
When we got home, Breck saw the neighbor kid out his window, so we went outside to play. At first he headed out the back door (since it was the only one unlocked that he could open!) and saw two baby toads! They were so tiny and cute...and fast!
Here's one close up:
and here's a photo to give you a sense of how tiny they are...this is the bottom of our back door:
The kids went to bed late and I'm exhausted...a few more posts and I'm headed to bed!
Our Day - Tuesday, June 16th, 2009
This morning Rowan woke up around 6:20am. And we still did not have power! So, I called the electric company's reporting hotline and reported, again, that we still do not have power. About 5 minutes later, it came on.
...whew, just in time for coffee!
Shortly after coffee was made, Breck was up! The kids ate a little bit of Cheerios
and we went outside to play in the driveway, since the ground was still soggy from last night's torrential downpour!
Breck grabbed his bat, ball and tee
and Rowan climbed into the truck to cheer!
Then the kids drove the truck around.
Breck was a good little neighbor and picked up branches from the street!
After a while, we headed in to change diapers and get dressed.
I vacuumed until I broke the vacuum, then spot steam cleaned the carpets and chairs and Breck vacuumed the kitchen floor.
The kids played inside for a little bit, then Rowan took a nap around 10am.
Around 11:30am Breck and I ate lunch, Rowan woke up at Noon and ate, then everyone got cleaned up and we headed to my SAHM's (stay at home mom) Sewing Bee!
(boy am I going to miss this group when we go to KC!!!)
Breck played with the kids, I learned a few things about sewing and Rowan moseyed about.
Around 2:45pm, we headed home.
And had ice cream!
Rowan took her 2nd nap around 3:30pm.
...and the rest of the night was pretty uneventful.
Our Day - June 15th, 2009
Sleeping in until 8am is starting to feel nice!
We ate some "breakfast"
(yes I let the kids eat birthday cupcakes)
Then we got dressed and headed to Rowan's 1 year check up.
We stopped at Home Depot to pick up a few plants to finish up the landscaping.
(there was one spot that looked a bit bare)
Then home for lunch!
On the way home, Breck said he wanted pizza for lunch. And since a) this is an unusual request from his normal peanut butter, and b) we had everything in the fridge to make one, I obliged and we made a pizza!
Rowan fell asleep before the pizza was done, so Breck and I ate, then I put in a movie for him and went out to mow the yard.
(Seth mowed the backyard on Saturday)
I mowed in 5 sections and came in to check on the kids after finishing each section.
This was a view from one of the check-ins:
(when Breck is in the "something's behind my back" pose, it always involves candy)
Rowan was a sweetheart and not only let me eat lunch and mow the yard, but she also slept long enough for me to relax and cool down after mowing!
When she woke up, she ate lunch and then we all went outside.
The kids played nicely while I planted the plants from Home Depot.
here, Breck's driving with his elbows...so much for him being a good driver!
and here's a not so lovely pic of me, courtesy of Breck
later on, we grooved to a little Madonna:
Breck fell asleep at 5:30pm for a nap.
so RoRo colored,
played The Next Food Network Star
and rode the rocking moose all by herself!:
Around 7pm, Breck woke up and we all ate dinner.
Then it started storming and our power went out at 8:30pm.
So, the kids and I went to the front door to sit where there was light and we saw this poor little bird, which must have (quite seriously) been in shock, sitting very still even while I took pictures of it and with Rowan pounding on the door! It eventually ruffled it's feathers and hopped around, so I assume it's ok.
Our neighbors got their power back on at 9:30pm, ours was still out.
So, the kids and I sang some songs (thank you Sound of Music!) and we made shadow puppets on Breck's wall!
(I'd have taken a picture, but I couldn't find the camera in the dark and we only have one flashlight.)
After that, I put Rowan down for the night and then Breck and I went to bed.
Still no power...
...ours came on at 6:30AM!!!
(I'm still a little irate about that)
Friday, June 12, 2009
Our Day - June 12th, 2009
This morning was pretty typical. We got up, the kids made a bee-line for outside,
ate breakfast
(which wound up on Rowan's arm because Breck used her as a napkin)
then we went back outside
Breck helped me vacuum, I changed about 5 stinky diapers, I finally got a shower, then the kids were still hungry so they had brunch (on top of breakfast), then it was already time for Rowan's first nap.
After everyone had lunch we putzed around for a while
until we left for the new Splash Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony!
(See that really small kid in the middle, in the red shirt and blue shorts? That's Breck.)
(we don't know the kid Breck's standing next to, but neither of them were too sure about running in with all the crazy big kids)
(oh, and Rowan was there, too!)
Yep, a foot - that's all Breck got wet!
So, since the splash park was less than terrific we headed to the park that's 10 feet away since it had been abandoned for the water.
Then we went home and Seth was there soon after!!
