Making A Passport

I've been reading a lot about virtual traveling and thought that since Seth and I love to travel abroad, but certainly won't be taking two active kids on an 8-hour+ plane ride, the kids and I will start "traveling" without ever leaving the house!

I'm not sure how many "trips" we'll take - maybe one per month - but I thought since we'll be visiting different countries, the kids will most definitely need passports.

And here's how I made them...

Materials Needed

  1. printer paper - as many sheets as you want
  2. construction or scrapbook paper
  3. stapler
  4. stickers or markers
  5. paper cutter - or scissors if you are good at cutting straight lines (I most certainly am not!)

How To
  1. cut the printer paper in half - so the measurements are 5 1/2 x 8
  2. fold the paper (all pages stacked together) in half, like a book
  3. cut your scrapbook/construction paper a little bigger than the printer paper - I cut mine to measure 5 3/4 x 8 1/4
  4. assemble your papers like a book, with the cover on the outside, and staple twice along the fold line
  5. decorate the cover with markers or crayons or stickers

Once we have visited a country or city or wherever, I will give the kids stickers to place on one page of their passport, documenting our visit and making it official!

Our first trip will be to Antarctica, where we'll see penguins and permafrost and whales - oh my!
