Project Pinterest - DIY {Not} Toaster Strudels

I've gotta start out by admitting this was a "failed" pin.
Not because the recipe was bad, but because I decided to make my own puff pastry...for which I had no patience or proper ingredients.

What I got instead was a learning experience.
Real Toaster Strudels are worth $0.25 each and you can make jam in the microwave.

My 'toaster strudels' turned out more like a cross between an empanada and a pop tart.
It was still yummy, just not flaky and such.

Original recipe source: BakingBites.com  |  Pinned via myself {the pin I found this through didn't have the original blog link...so I tracked it down.}

To make the jam in the microwave, I threw together about 1 pound of frozen strawberries and 2 tbsp white sugar. Nuke on high for 15 minutes, mash with a potato masher, then when cool add 2 tbsps of corn starch.
This will keep in the fridge for at least two weeks...probably longer and I'm sure you could freeze it.
...or just eat the whole thing with a spoon...

  1. Looks yummy! For all of the Pinterest SUCCESSESS that we've had Katie... there have to be a few "fails" in there somewhere, right? =/ (I'm with you - I'm pretty sure I'd be eating that jam by the spoonful!)

  2. The jam looks really yummy!

    I had a Pinterest fail this week too, but I found another way to try the project, so I'll be trying that way and then either posting one fail and one success next week, or an epic fail!

  3. Love Pinterist. I have done a lot of the things on there -- but never remember to take pictures, or blog about it...
