For the past several weeks, we've been working on weather and days of the week.
I got both of these bulletin strip things from Dollar Tree.

Monday
It was way too nice outside, so Rowan and I went for a walk instead of tot school.
We saw fountains, ducks and geese, an airplane, lots and lots of leaves, she got some good exercise by pushing the stroller nearly the entire walk, and we practiced proper street-crossing procedure. Oh, and she also "learned" that we do not eat candy found on the ground...even if it is trick or treat candy. (don't worry, she didn't eat any!)

Tuesday
Monday night a sore throat hit me like a ton of bricks. I was much better Tuesday morning, but still not 100%. So, we had a pajama day! And, thankfully, I had a rather light day planned anyway.
Color Sorting
This morning, Breck gathered like colored toys to drag around the room.
Letter Identification
And when Daddy came home for lunch, he worked with the kids on identifying letters of the alphabet using our Vtech Explore My School toy. (which I paid a dollar for at a garage sale!)
Learning About Eggs
Well, sort of.
The following book isn't the best real-life example of which animals lay eggs, but it sure is a cute story!!!
Title: The Cow That Laid an Egg
Author: Andy Cutbill
After reading the book, we tried to talked about what animals do lay eggs.
Breck didn't care. So, we moved on.
Flannel Board Egg Count
I quickly made this lame egg counting game - I couldn't find our brown felt, so I used blue. And I used a light blue felt (didn't have a robin's egg blue!) for some eggs, because I wanted the kids to know that not all eggs are white.
I think that would have been better demonstrated by a book with pictures of animals and their eggs.
Egg Racing
I originally saw this idea on 1+1+1=1.
We used play food eggs and tablespoons and just raced around the table in the toy room!

The rest of the week just didn't happen. So, we'll continue our E week - Earth & Egypt - for one more week!

Those kind of weeks happen. Sounds like you still got a lot done considering the circumstances. I love the egg racing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you got a lot done even if it was not what you had planned. We are having a slow tot week ourselves but I am hoping to salvage it a bit before the week is over.

We've had a couple of those weeks lately ourselves. It's great that you took advantage of the nice weather to take a walk... I seriously need to be more open to doing things like that. If I have school activities planned it's very hard for me to just ditch them, but the walk sounded like it allowed a lot of learning too - thanks for helping me keep this in mind!
