Homemade Doughnuts!

These were a little harder to make than I had originally thought - mainly the frying part. Turns out you shouldn't be impatient for the oil to reach it's temp by turning the heat up, because then your oil gets too hot and you end up with really dark doughnuts, although they still taste good.

I found the recipe at Erin Cooks. Mine certainly did not turn out as lovely, but were still edible and mostly tasty. Here are a few pics from my venture:

I ended up with 32 doughnuts and obviously, 32 doughnut holes!

I don't have a doughnut cutter, so I used my largest biscuit cutter and a plastic bottle cap!

Frying

Can you tell which ones I fried first?!

Breck liked them (The first day, when they were still crispy on the outside. After I put them in a ziplock bag they softened up a lot.)

  1. I cheat when I do mine...I use canned biscuits and sometimes store bought icing :)
