Works For Me Wednesday!

This is my first time participating in Works for me Wednesday at Rocks In My Dryer!
(I think I'm becoming addicted to memes!!!)

---

Cleaning spills on your carpet with just water and a towel....it works for me! (and my Grandma Hildreth...she's the one who taught me this!) Here's the how-to:

Step 1. Spill something.

Step 2. Pat the spill as dry as you can with a towel. (do not scrub!)

Step 3. Drench a color-fast washcloth or towel (depending on the size of spill) with cold water.

Step 4. Wring out all the water from the towel onto the spill. (don't dab or pat or anything!)

Step 5. Lay the just-rung-out towel over the spill and leave it alone for 10-15 minutes.

Step 6. Now pick up the towel and wring out in the sink. Rinse. (or you could get another towel) Go back to spill and pat the spot as dry as you can.

Step 7. Stand back and admire your unstained carpet. Feel good about not spending money on cleaners and keeping garbage out of the landfill, as well as being "green" while you clean!

  1. Good tip! I tried something very similar once, only instead of a colorfast towel, I used a decorative green paper napkin. The stain turned green.

Thanks for the comment on my Flylady post!
