365-139: Great Blue Heron

I'm certainly no bird expert, but as far as I can figure out, this is a Great Blue Heron.
He flew away just after I got this shot. I was trying to be stealth-like, but...well...I'm not.
At all.
Anyway, this bird flew around the pond and over our heads, at which point I felt like I was watching a pterodactyl in flight!
This thing was huge!

I edit with Picasa.
(for a few more days, anyway - I scored myself PSE 8 for a smooth $35!!)

The steps I used were pretty simple (and obvious!):
Crop
B&W
Boost shadows a lot
Boost highlights a lot
Boost fill light a smidge

:)
