Today I learned how to crochet!
I was inspired by this:
(photo from ohdeedoh.com)
isn't it absolutely gorgeous?!!!
I found this two days ago. And I stared at it for an hour.
(ok, not really an hour, but a long time. Just soaking up the prettiness.)
So, this morning while out running errands, we stopped at the storage unit (where all things wonderful are kept: movies, toys, craft materials, etc) to pick up my never-been-used crochet hooks.
They were easily accessible. Whew!
And I knew I had some yarn (albeit ugly yarn) in the garage.
As time allowed, I followed this easy to understand and completely wonderful
Summer Garden Granny Square tutorial.
(run, do not walk, to Lucy's site: Attic24. You'll be happy you did!)
and I ended up with this:
I think it's rather lovely.
(sorry for the poor lighting, but I couldn't wait for natural light to share it!)
But don't look closely - there are many errors! However, I'm still pretty proud of it as it's the first thing I've ever crocheted!
(Excluding long chains when I was little. I didn't have the patience then to learn anything else. And yes, I have the patience now - Seth.)
As in my inspiration afghan, I plan to make my borders white or cream.
And I've already promised Seth that I will not, I repeat NOT, jump two feet in with this project. (as I have a tenancy to do)
I'm hoping to have it finished by the end of the year.
(...rest assured, you'll see updates. ooooh yes, you'll see updates!)
Shoot...very good for a first timer!! Looks great!
