Book Review: The Jesus You Can't Ignore by John MacArthur

The Jesus You Can't Ignore takes a hard look at Jesus' ministry from beginning to end. And it emphasizes the fact that Jesus wasn't a "cushy, let's find some middle ground" kind of person. John MacArthur uses scripture to show that Jesus was direct and at times abrasive with his teachings, but He always said exactly what the people needed to hear. Even if it wasn't the most popular thing. And that resolve for the Truth is something that many churches and Christians are lacking today.

One thing I really appreciate about this book is that John MacArthur provides the reader with an explanation and background on the people and culture during Jesus' time on Earth, especially in regard to the Pharisees. He also uses Bible based scripture to support each and every point he makes, and cites the specific scripture within the text. MacArthur makes a good argument that many churches of today are too concerned with not offending anyone and therefore may be allowing false doctrine into their midst. And he challenges Christians to speak out against modern-day Pharisees, because it just may be what they need to hear.
